Roberto Clemente Day

On Sunday July 28, 2013, 2pm-7pm The Orlando Monarchs Baseball Club close the regular season at home and kick-off the Summer League Playoffs by honoring baseball legend
Roberto Clemente.

The Monarchs, in just two seasons have been consistently ranked high, and their talent and competitiveness have often led the League while producing Major League Baseball (MLB) signed players.

Founder/President, Rickie Weeks, Sr., a former college player and the father of two Major League Baseball players. Weeks was inspired to leverage baseball as a tool to teach life-skills to inner-city youth and provide affordable downtown family entertainment by some of the nation’s top-collegiate players from HBCU’s. The collegiate players hone their craft in the summer league while mentoring the hundreds of Monarchs Foundation-Weeks II Success youth camp and clinic participants. Weeks II Success participants are also required to fulfill reading and character building challenges. The “Monarchs” are named in honor of the Kansas City Monarchs and the legendary Leroy “Satchel” Page (whom the Mascot and Logo salute).

Tinker Field: The legacy rich history continues as Tinker Field will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2014! Historic Tinker Field, once the only field upon which African-Americans in the Negro League were allowed to play baseball in Orlando, hosted Jackie Robinson, Satchel Page, and legions of other legendary players. The 100 Year Celebration activities will commence throughout next season.
