Happy Black HerStory!


Shirley Chisholm (1924 – 2005) was the First Black Woman elected to Congress. Representing New York 12th Congressional District for seven terms. On January 25, 1972 Shirley Chislom became the first Black major-party candidate to run for President of United States of America for The Democratic Presidential Nomination.
